On June 11, 2012, a protocol was signed for the construction of Bartın Mika-Der Houses of Affection as the first regional project in Turkey. Governor İsa Küçük and his wife Emine Küçük, Mika-Der President Nesrin Ercan, Vice President Arzu Çebi, Secretary General G. Elif Türkay, members Hanife Akdağ, Selin Bozkurt, Ala Sarsılmaz, Secretary General of Provincial Special Administration İbrahim Kayış, Provincial Director of Family and Social Policies Adem Karameşe and journalists attended the protocol ceremony held in the administrative building of Bartın Governorate.
